(PRESS RELEASE) Which U.S. states are truly leading the charge when it comes to pet health?

New data from Maven Pet reveals where pet owners aren’t just talking about wellness, they’re actively searching for ways to improve it.

By analysing real search behaviour across all 50 states, this study uncovers the regions where proactive pet care is becoming a clear priority.

Key Findings

  • Oregon leads the nation with the highest per-capita interest in pet wellness, recording 215.3 searches per 100,000 residents. This indicates a significant regional focus on pet health and well-being.
  • Colorado ranks second in per-capita searches, with 171.8 searches per 100,000 residents, highlighting a strong interest in veterinary care and preventive pet measures.
  • Washington takes the third spot, with 145.2 searches per 100,000 people, emphasizing the state’s proactive approach to pet grooming and related wellness activities.

New research from Maven Pet reveals which U.S. states are leading the charge in pet wellness, based on real search behaviour. The study analysed Google Keyword Planner data across 17 pet wellness-related keywords, spanning topics such as pet health, grooming, and preventative care.

Search volumes were collected for all 50 states and adjusted for population size to calculate searches per 100,000 residents, ensuring a like-for-like comparison. This per-capita approach highlights where interest in pet wellbeing is most concentrated, rather than simply where populations are largest.

Guilherme Coelho, Co-Founder & CEO at Maven Pet, said: “The findings from Oregon are truly remarkable, with the state leading the nation in per-capita searches for pet wellness. This suggests a community deeply committed to the health and happiness of their pets.”

Guilherme added: “What’s particularly interesting is how closely this search data aligns with our own customer data. When we analysed Maven Pet usage by state, we found strong overlap, with Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Wyoming all appearing in both datasets.”

Guilherme also noted: “Even more compelling is that Colorado and Washington rank in the top three across both search interest and product adoption. That level of correlation reinforces the idea that where pet owners are actively seeking wellness solutions, they’re also taking action to improve their pets’ health.”

“It highlights a clear trend: pet owners aren’t just researching wellness, they’re investing in it. Whether they discover solutions like Maven through search or come to us directly, the intent is the same — to provide better, more proactive care for their pets.”
