MG Motor has reached a major milestone in Europe, confirming delivery of its one millionth customer car — with the UK leading the charge.

Since returning to its home market in 2011 with the MG6, MG has transformed itself into one of Europe’s fastest-growing automotive brands. Today, the company operates across 34 European markets with more than 1,300 dealer partners, firmly establishing itself in the continent’s mainstream car market.

The United Kingdom continues to be MG’s leading European market, accounting for 386,000 total sales to date. MG’s strong value proposition — combining affordability, technology and attractive design — has resonated strongly with UK buyers amid rising living costs and the accelerating shift towards electrification.

Across Europe, MG recorded 300,000 sales in 2025, representing a 30% year-on-year increase over 2024 — underlining the brand’s continued upward momentum.

Electric Vehicles Power MG’s Success

A key driver behind MG’s rapid growth has been its early and aggressive move into electric vehicles.

To date, MG has delivered 317,000 battery electric vehicles (BEVs) across Europe. Central to that success has been the MG4 EV, which quickly became one of the UK’s most competitively priced and highly regarded electric hatchbacks.

Now, MG is building on that momentum with the launch of the 2026 MG4 EV and the all-new MG4 EV Urban, aimed squarely at urban drivers seeking affordable zero-emission mobility.

MG’s approach has been simple but effective: offer practical EVs with strong range, generous equipment and accessible pricing — often arriving ahead of legacy competitors.

Hybrid+ Sales Surge in 2025

Electrification at MG hasn’t been limited to fully electric models. The company’s efficient Hybrid+ range also delivered strong results in 2025, with 139,000 deliveries across Europe.

For many UK drivers not yet ready to switch fully to electric, Hybrid+ models have provided an accessible stepping stone, combining improved fuel economy with lower emissions — while maintaining MG’s competitive pricing.

Performance Meets Heritage: The Cyberster

MG has also reasserted its sporting credentials with the dramatic MG Cyberster, a fully electric roadster that nods to the brand’s iconic British sports car heritage.

Designed at MG’s London studio, the Cyberster blends futuristic styling with open-top performance. It played a starring role during MG’s 100th anniversary celebrations at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, reinforcing the marque’s renewed focus on electric performance cars.

MG ZS Remains a European Bestseller

While EVs grab the headlines, the MG ZS remains MG’s leading product in Europe, with 424,000 units sold. The compact SUV has been particularly popular in the UK thanks to its combination of space, affordability and straightforward ownership costs.

MG’s European Expansion Continues

Guy Pigounakis, Commercial Director at MG Motor UK, highlighted the importance of the milestone:

“MG has successfully returned to Europe’s motoring mainstream with its one millionth customer delivery… The underlying affection for MG, the iconic British sportscar brand, continues to shape our strategy and reinforces our commitment to electric performance cars.”

He also emphasised that MG’s modern resurgence is built not only on heritage, but on a forward-looking commitment to hybrid and electric technology, alongside strong overall value.

Looking ahead, MG has confirmed several key announcements in the first half of 2026 focused on new technology and design developments tailored specifically to European customers.

With one million European sales now achieved, MG’s trajectory suggests the brand will remain a central player in the UK’s transition to electrified mobility.

As affordability continues to be a decisive factor for many households, MG’s formula of value-led EVs and hybrids appears well aligned with the demands of the modern British car buyer.
