[nj] Condo Neighbors Keep Damaging My Car
Location: New Jersey
I'm in a condominium complex with an assigned deeded parking spot (NO chance of changing it). A year ago new neighbors moved in and parked next to me, and immediately I started noticing damage on the side of my car. Installed a security camera and quickly confirmed that it was them and their toddler causing the scratches/scuffs.
Numerous times approached them amicably, offered to eat the loss as long as the're careful moving forward. Problem is damages keep mounting and all my attempts are futile.
This weekend's scratches were massive. I filed a police report to document the incident and intend to send them a certified letter declaring that I'll hold them responsible for all repairs shall another damage incident occur. If it does, I intend to go to small claims to recover repair costs.
Please help. Am I doing the right thing? I honestly don't know what else to do: my car's lease is up soon and I am worried about the massive expenses.
TIA.
