Dog Was Ran Over And Sheriff Of County Dumped Body On Public Land

Card image cap

Location: Indiana

This thanksgiving our family dog was ran over and the people who saw it happen called the county to see about what to do, sheriff pulled up and from what I’m told the individuals who called had requested him to see about getting dog checked for a chip so the owners (me and my family) could be notified. Upon learning of our dogs location, we learned from calling county dispatch the officer just took my dog and threw him in a tree line on a different road. Indiana law states it is illegal to just dump animal remains and from what I understand it is just as illegal for a sheriff. I’ve spoken to the department and they think it’s justified even though they have no protocol in place for situations like these. Im just trying to get something to be done about this so no one else has to go through this shit that we’ve been dealing with. Called a half a dozen attorneys outside of the area to see about what we can do and no one wants to take this on. This is what’s led me to this page. Thanks in advance for any input!
