Ford Recall
Location: Metro Boston, MA
I have a 2015 Ford Fusion and just after COVID it started having issues with it's rear camera. What I shifted into Reverse if displayed a message saying "Camera unavailable, please contact a dealer" - sometimes the camera doesn't come up at all or is completely black. So on the next inspection(which at that time we were having done at the dealer) we mentioned it and asked them to take a look. They took a look, determined the camera module to be faulty but said they had no parts available to fix it and charged us $70 for a diagnostic fee. Frustrating but whatever.
A few days ago I got a letter in the mail from Ford which is another recall notice... for the rear camera. I guess a lot of other customers had this same problem. The recall notice currently says that they don't have any parts available for a fix but will be in touch when they do with further instructions.
My question is: now that this is an actual recall rather than a regular repair - is there any avenue to get my $70 diagnostic fee back or is it just a loss?
