I’m 18, Born In Minnesota With No Birth Certificate Or Ssn — What Do I Do To Get Documented?

Card image cap

I’m a 19 year old American citizen, born in Minnesota (didn’t mean to say 18 in title.). My parents never got me a birth certificate or a Social Security number, and as far as official records go, I basically don’t exist. The only records I have are dental records, eye specialist records, and a few medical-related documents.

About two months ago, I had my midwife fill out and notarize a document confirming my birth with all my information on it.

I’m trying to get everything sorted out so I can get a birth certificate, SSN, and eventually an ID. What steps should I take to get officially documented? Has anyone dealt with this process in Minnesota or knows how the “delayed birth certificate” process works?

Any advice, guidance, or resources would be appreciated.

I should also mention I’ve already went through the mn department of health and had an identity check and that cleared but they sent my application in and it was denied for not having enough documentation. Unfortunately that’s all I have so idk what my next steps should be.

And not to be racist but my parents are not immigrants and are legal white Americans, if that information helps.
