BOOKR Kids, a Budapest-based EdTech company behind BOOKR Class, has completed a €6.1 million Series A raise to develop their learning platform focused on literacy, language development and AI readiness.

The raise was led by TCEE Fund IV, advised by 3TS Capital Partners, with participation from Leib Lurie of US literacy nonprofit Kids Read Now; Robert Iskander, Chairman and CEO of SchoolDay; Infinit Capital Oy, the Koponen family’s Finnish investment vehicle; and Hungarian angel investor and Billingo CEO Albert Sárospataki through the FusionWise angel syndicate.

The next generation will not compete with AI on speed. They will need to compete on depth: comprehension, curiosity, judgement and the ability to ask better questions. This investment allows BOOKR to build the learning infrastructure behind those capabilities – and to take it to millions more children around the world,” says Dr. Dorka Horváth, PhD, CEO and co-founder of BOOKR Kids.

BOOKR Kids’ Series A comes amid continued 2026 investment in European language-learning and AI-supported education platforms.

EU-Startups has seen Preply raising €127 million to expand its AI-supported language-learning and tutoring platform, London-based Medly AI securing €6.89 million for personalised AI tutoring, and Lucida AI raising €6.1 million to develop its speech-native language-coaching technology and expand internationally.

Together, those rounds represent approximately €140 million in 2026 funding, rising to around €146.1 million when BOOKR’s round is included.

EU-Startups previously reported on BOOKR Kids in 2020, when the company raised €2 million in funding alongside a further €2 million convertible note to support the international expansion of BOOKR Class.

BOOKR pairs outstanding content and rigorous pedagogy with something few companies from our region achieve: a genuinely international business. Through established partner networks across markets including Turkey, the UAE, Jordan and China, it has built a geographically diversified revenue base rather than depending on a single home market. That proven cross-border traction positions BOOKR to help define how literacy and language learning evolve in the AI era,” adds Barnabás Vincze, Investment Manager at 3TS Capital Partners.

Founded in 2015, BOOKR has grown from a literacy startup into an international learning ecosystem serving more than 600,000 paying students across over 3,000 schools in more than 30 countries. Its key markets span Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the Americas.

BOOKR operates primarily in the global English-language-learning market, at the intersection of language acquisition, reading comprehension and literacy, while also serving German language learning and Hungarian first-language literacy.

Its ecosystem includes thousands of interactive, curriculum-based digital books and more than 50,000 learning activities.

BOOKR Class says it brings together two layers of education technology that are often kept separate.

  • Children access curriculum-based, animated, interactive books shaped by writers, artists, dramaturgs, psychologists, educators and literacy experts, with native-speaker narration and multisensory storytelling that strengthen language input, comprehension and empathy.
  • For educators, Teacher Support AI provides diagnostic CEFR-aligned pathways, curriculum mapping, learning-data analysis, content recommendations and teaching materials.

GenAI is reportedly concentrated in the teacher environment under professional oversight; children encounter only bounded, age-appropriate functionality designed around privacy-by-design and the child-safety principles reflected in the EU AI Act.

Along with the funding, the company is announcing the launch of BOOKR’s new Teacher Dashboard, bringing curriculum alignment, data-informed differentiation, advanced progress analytics and a new generation of teacher-support tools into one integrated environment.

BOOKR is also developing an AI-driven, multi-adaptive language placement and proficiency assessment system, supported by a €662k non-repayable grant from the European Union.

University-led research in Hungary found that students using BOOKR’s interactive learning format improved their reading comprehension by 20% more than the control group.

In a 2026 pilot in Jordan, the treatment group improved by 1.08 points while the comparison group declined by 0.47 points (p<0.001), with higher usage associated with stronger gains.

What the investment will go towards:

  • Global expansion through deeper institutional partnerships and stronger distribution across priority markets in Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the Americas.
  • BOOKR Next for learners aged 10–18, extending the company’s evidence-based learning experience into secondary education and vocational pathways.
  • BOOKR Phonics, a structured eight-phase programme of decodable texts for early literacy.
  • International scaling of the newly launched Teacher Dashboard, including AI-powered curriculum alignment, data-informed differentiation and advanced progress analytics.
  • Speaking Studio, multilingual expansion and continued research connecting product usage to measurable learning outcomes.
