Got Assaulted On The Highway — What Can I Do To Escalate My Case?

I was recently assaulted on the highway and filed a police report, but the case now feels like it’s going cold.

Here’s what happened: I was merging into traffic, and because it was really backed up, all the cars were moving slowly. I merged into a lane in front of a guy, and for some reason he got extremely angry. He pulled over into the emergency lane, and shortly after that the traffic in front of me came to a complete stop. That gave him enough time to get out of his car, walk up to mine, reach through my window, and punch me in the face. I ended up with blood all over my face, and he also tried to flee the scene afterward.

I called the police right away. The car is registered to the female passenger who was with him, and police were able to identify the vehicle. They tried to bring the registered owner in for questioning, but she refused. Because of that, nothing is moving forward, and now it feels like the case is just sitting with no updates.

Is there anything I can do to escalate this or push for further action? I really don’t want this to become a cold case.

I have a clear video of his face as well. I would really like to post the video only hoping to identify him. Would i get in trouble if I do that?
