Bugatti’s Veyron Hommage Leaked Early, And It’s More Than A Paint Job
- Bugatti’s Solitaire program returns with a Veyron tribute.
- Design matches the original red and black Veyron concept.
- Power could jump 50 percent with Chiron Super Sport’s W16
Bugatti clearly has unfinished business with its past. Just hours before its official debut, a full image of the Veyron FKP Hommage, a modern update on Bugatti’s first production car of the VW era, has leaked online, courtesy of Instagram user @rollendereporter.
This is the second creation from Bugatti’s Solitaire program, following the Brouillard, and it’s a deeply personal one. The FKP initials reference Ferdinand Karl Piech, the Volkswagen Group boss whose stubborn vision dragged the Veyron from wild idea to production reality.
And visually, with its red and black two-tone paint and polished wheels, it looks just like 2003’s EB16/4 Veyron concept.

We’ll have to wait a few more hours to see more of the updated Veyron and learn what mechanical changes the Molsheim designers and engineers have made under the carbon skin. But we have already reported on one major piece of supercar hardware borrowed from the cars that came along after the Veyron bowed out in 2015.
Chiron Power, Veyron Looks
The regular production Veyron pumped out a then-incredible 987 hp (1,001 PS) from its quad-turbo 8.0-liter W16, and the later Super Sport and Grand Sport Vitesse made 1,184 hp (882 kW / 1,200 PS). But the Veyron FKP Hommage reportedly gets the most potent street-legal version of the now-retired W16 engine from the Chiron Super Sport 300+, pushing out a formidable 1,578 horsepower (1,177 kW / 1,600 PS).
With that kind of power the FKP should easily blow past the original Veyron’s 253 mph (408 kmh) top speed, though there’s no chance it’ll match the Chiron 300+’s 305 mph (490 kmh) top end, which required custom-designed low-drag bodywork.
We’ll update this story later today when Bugatti drops all the FKP details, including hopefully a full set of pictures that give us a look at the interior, and confirmation of that 1,578 hp rumor.
