The extended-range version of the all-new Nissan Micra is now eligible for the full £3,750 UK Electric Car Grant, thanks to the adoption of a new Europe-sourced battery. The update significantly improves the value proposition for buyers looking for an affordable electric city car.

With the higher government incentive applied, the MICRA 52kWh will start from £23,245 in the UK. Customer deliveries are expected to begin in the coming weeks, and Nissan confirmed that both existing and future orders of the 52kWh model will qualify for the full EV grant.

Built in France, Designed for Urban Electric Mobility

The new electric MICRA is produced at the ElectriCity production hub in northern France, reinforcing Nissan’s European EV manufacturing strategy. The sixth-generation MICRA represents a major step forward for the brand, bringing together affordability, modern technology and everyday practicality.

The compact hatchback also continues the legacy of a model that has sold over six million units globally since its debut.

Two Battery Options and Competitive Pricing

The new MICRA will be offered with two battery choices:

– 40kWh battery – Up to 196 miles (WLTP) of range with a starting price: £21,495 is eligible for the £1,500 Electric Car Grant
– 52kWh battery – Up to 257 miles (WLTP) of range with a starting price: £23,245 (including the £3,750 Electric Car Grant)

The improved eligibility for the larger battery model comes after Nissan switched to a Europe-sourced battery supplier, allowing it to meet the requirements for the maximum grant.

Nissan Strengthens Its Affordable EV Lineup

According to James Taylor, Managing Director of Nissan GB, the update ensures strong value for UK EV buyers:

“Our new battery supplier means our longer-range MICRA 52kWh now qualifies for the full £3,750 Electric Car Grant, ensuring great value for money for our customers.”

Taylor also noted that both of the brand’s new EV launches in the UK this year now benefit from the maximum government incentive, including the Nissan Leaf.

Technology and Connectivity

Despite its compact footprint, the new MICRA features a modern digital experience with:

– Google Built-in integration
– Access to the NissanConnect Services mobile app
– Advanced connectivity and in-car technology

These features are designed to make the MICRA competitive in the fast-growing electric city car segment while maintaining everyday usability.

Lower PCP Payments Announced

Alongside the grant update, Nissan has also introduced revised PCP finance deals, reducing monthly payments for UK customers and further improving affordability for those switching to electric.

With competitive pricing, solid range figures and strong government incentives, the new electric MICRA aims to become one of the most accessible EVs in the UK market.
