Rivian R2 Electric Suv: Trims, Pricing And Specs Revealed









Rivian has unveiled the full trims and pricing for the highly anticipated Rivian R2, a mid-size electric SUV designed to bring the brand’s adventure-focused design and performance to a broader audience.
Deliveries for the R2 will begin in Spring 2026 with the Performance trim featuring the Launch Package, starting at $57,990. Additional Premium models will arrive in late 2026, followed by Standard trims in 2027.
Built on a brand-new mid-size EV platform, the R2 combines strong performance with everyday practicality, offering up to 656 horsepower, a 0–60 mph time as quick as 3.6 seconds, and up to 345 miles of estimated range.
“R2 embodies so many of our learnings that we have accumulated—the passion and attention to detail from our team is visible everywhere,” said RJ Scaringe, founder and CEO of Rivian.
Rivian R2 Performance (Spring 2026)
The R2 Performance trim is the most capable version in the lineup, combining strong on-road acceleration with serious off-road capability.
- Starting price: $57,990 (Launch Package)
- Powertrain: Dual-motor AWD
- Power: 656 hp, 609 lb-ft of torque
- 0–60 mph:6 seconds
- Range: Up to 330 miles (EPA estimated)
Key features include:
- Semi-active suspension
- Heated and ventilated front seats with heated rear outboard seats
- 12-way power front seats
- Rivian Premium Audio (975W)
- Matrix LED headlights with Adaptive High Beams

- 21-inch Liquid Tungsten wheels
- Multiple drive modes including Rally, Soft Sand and Launch Mode
The limited Launch Package also includes lifetime Autonomy+ driver assistance, a special Rivian Green key fob and an optional Launch Green exterior color.
A tow package with 4,400-lb towing capacity is available as an option.
Rivian R2 Premium (Late 2026)
The R2 Premium trim offers a balance of performance and luxury.

Standard equipment includes:

Buyers can also add Autonomy+, upgraded wheels and the optional 4,400-lb tow package.
Rivian R2 Standard (2027)
The R2 Standard trim brings Rivian ownership to a lower price point while maintaining strong range and capability.

- Power: 350 hp, 355 lb-ft
- 0–60 mph:9 seconds
- Range: Up to 345 miles
Standard features include:
- Heated front seats and heated steering wheel
- 12-way power driver seat
- 19-inch Machined Graphite wheels
- Basic audio system with 5 speakers
Buyers will also be able to upgrade to dual-motor AWD with 450 hp and add towing capability.
An additional entry-level R2 variant is planned for late 2027, expected to start around $45,000 with 275+ miles of range.
New Colors, Wheels and Interior Options
Rivian is expanding its color palette with three new exterior finishes for the R2:
– Catalina Cove – a blue-green metallic inspired by the waters around Catalina Island
– Esker Silver – shimmering metallic silver influenced by glacial ridges
Half Moon Grey – coastal-inspired metallic grey
Wheel options range from 19-inch all-season wheels to 21-inch performance wheels, along with a 20-inch all-terrain setup with BF Goodrich tires for off-road driving.
Inside, Rivian continues its nature-inspired minimalist design with materials like upcycled Birch wood accents and textile finishes across multiple interior themes.
Practical Interior and Smart Storage
The R2 is designed with versatility in mind, offering 90.1 cubic feet of enclosed storage.
Highlights include:
– 5.2 cubic-foot front trunk (frunk)
– Fold-flat rear seats for large gear
– Dual glove boxes for improved organization
– Rear drop glass window for carrying long items like surfboards
The cabin comfortably seats five adults, with Rivian emphasizing wide sightlines and open-air flexibility.
Capability and Off-Road Performance
Although smaller than the R1 lineup, the R2 keeps Rivian’s adventure DNA intact.
Key capability specs include:
– 9.6 inches of ground clearance
– 25° approach angle
– 26° departure angle
The R2 is also nearly 2,000 lbs lighter than the R1, improving maneuverability while maintaining off-road capability.
Software-Defined Technology
The R2 introduces Rivian’s latest software-defined vehicle architecture, featuring:
– 11 HDR cameras totaling 65 MP
– Five radar sensors
– 200 sparse TOPS of AI computing power
This hardware supports Autonomy+, Rivian’s advanced driver-assistance platform offering hands-free driving on more than 3.5 million miles of roads across the U.S. and Canada.
The SUV also features dual digital displays and Rivian’s new haptic “halo” steering wheel controls, designed to blend tactile feedback with digital functionality.
Rivian R2 Reservations
Reservations for the R2 are open now with a $100 refundable deposit. Production begins with the Performance Launch Package in Spring 2026, followed by Premium models later that year and Standard versions through 2027.
With strong performance, long range and a significantly lower starting price than Rivian’s current models, the R2 could become the company’s most important vehicle yet.
