See The Last Surviving Nascar 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona
You may be a fan of MCACN (aka the Muscle Cars and Corvette Nationals) and our feature on one of the largest gatherings of Ma Mopar’s “Aero Warriors,” the 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona and Plymouth Road Runner Superbird. However, have you ever wondered where all the race cars are among the homologation street cars?
Yes, our consumer-grade vehicles were designed to be disposable, and even more so the race cars once a new-and-improved sequel hit the banked ovals. As such, a NASCAR-spec Dodge Charger Daytona is as rare as the proverbial tooth of a hen. One of them has recently been restored and will be making a splash at MCACN on November 21-22, 2026, at the Donald F. Stephens Convention Center in suburban Chicago.
This Daytona was owned and campaigned by Dave Marcis and is confirmed to have raced the 1970 Daytona 500. And we’re not just whistling Dixie here — this car is confirmed to be the real McCoy through period photos, mechanical verifications, expert testimony, and even comparisons with actual tech inspection photos.
Additionally, the race car has been restored with a period-correct Race Hemi with its unique “bathtub” intake manifold and Holley 4500-series carburetor. Currently owned by the Jennings Wing Cars collection, this genuine “Winged Warrior” is the high-water mark of factory involvement in NASCAR.
