They Stole $2m In Cars Before Anyone Even Heard A Sound
- Eight luxury cars stolen from a dealership in Ontario, Canada.
- The heist lasted just minutes and no alarm system was triggered.
- Police recovered five vehicles but three remain unaccounted for.
Police in Ontario, Canada, have arrested two individuals and are still searching for others involved in a swift and well-coordinated car dealership heist that saw roughly CA$2 million worth of vehicles stolen in just minutes. The early morning break-in, carried out by a group of masked thieves, targeted a high-end auto leasing business in what appears to have been a planned operation.
A group of approximately eight individuals broke into Lockwood Leasing at 3:35 a.m. on January 11. Once inside, they moved quickly, heading straight to the area where the car keys were kept. Eight vehicles were taken, among them a Porsche 911 GT3, a 911 Carrera, two BMW M4s, a Ferrari, and three Mercedes-Benz models, including two S580s.

While the property was equipped with security cameras that recorded the entire theft, it did not have an alarm system in place to alert authorities at the time of the break-in. None of the stolen vehicles were fitted with license plates, which would ordinarily complicate efforts to locate them.
However, according to the Halton Regional Police, the Porsche, a Mercedes-Benz, one of the BMW M4s, and the Ferrari were all located abandoned and unoccupied in the Greater Toronto Area. They soon tracked down the second 911 and arrested two men in connection with the theft.
Two 24-year old men were charged with break and enter, as well as disguise with intent. After being held in custody, the two were released on bail.
Police are still on the hunt for the remaining three vehicles taken during the brazen overnight theft. They’re asking locals who may have information to contact the 2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers.
All of the individuals involved in the theft were wearing black clothing, including hoodies, balaclavas, or face masks, shielding their identities from the cameras and, no doubt, making the job of tracking them down more difficult.
