‘help Save Hopvine’ — Capitol Hill Pub Needs $50k To Get Through Financial ‘rough Patch’

Part of 15th Ave E for more than 30 years, the Hopvine Pub is seeking help from the community to make ends meet.

An effort to raise $50,000 is underway.

“It’s one of the great places in the city of Seattle. For many reasons. Arts. Music. Events that have been so special,” Bob Brenlin says about the plea and Hopvine’s place in the neighborhood. “It’s also been about the beer.”

In the fundraiser, longtime general manager Taelor Sloane says the Hopvine has fallen behind due to costs around rent, payroll, and insurance. The fundraiser, Sloane and Brenlin say, will help the 15th Ave E pub through “a bit of a rough patch” and help set the Hopvine on “a new direction.”

Last summer, CHS marked 30 years of the Hop and the history of the watering hole as a place for great local beer, soups and sandwiches, and a home for decades of open mic performances.

The Hopvine Pub was once part of a family of bars including the Latona Pub in Green Lake and Fidder’s Inn in Wedgwood. Brenlin no longer owns the Latona Pub according to business permit filings but still is part of the ownership of Fiddler’s Inn.

Hopvine Pub is located at 507 15th Ave E. Learn more at hopvinepub.com.
