We often believe that success requires the right opportunities, financial support, a privileged background, or access to the right places. But sometimes, the most important resources are the ones we already have: the ability to learn, the willingness to work, the people around us, and the courage to start with what we have.
In this talk, Sudarshan Bhat explores how challenges can become opportunities when we change the way we look at them. His journey from a small village in Kasaragod to building Bhat n Bhat into a community of over a million people is a reminder that where you begin does not necessarily determine where you can go.
Through his experiences, Sudarshan speaks about the importance of making the most of limited resources, turning problems into challenges, using time effectively, and staying consistent even when the path is uncertain. He also highlights something that is often overlooked in individual success: the power of family, community and teamwork.
The story of Bhat n Bhat began with two brothers experimenting with traditional recipes during the lockdown, using a mobile phone and the resources available at home. What followed was not simply the growth of a YouTube channel, but an example of how a small beginning, when combined with consistency and the willingness to adapt, can grow into something much bigger.
Sudarshan's message is simple: you do not always need better circumstances to create better outcomes. Sometimes, you need to make better use of the circumstances you already have.
The future is shaped not only by the opportunities we get, but by what we choose to do with the time, people and resources we already have. Popularly known as “Bhat n Bhat,” is a content creator, entrepreneur, advocate, and passionate promoter of rural culture and traditional living. Alongside his twin brother and family, he co-founded Bhat n Bhat, a digital platform known for authentic traditional cuisine, village lifestyle, and agriculture-based content. Raised in Seethangoli, a small village in Kasaragod, Sudharshan grew up in a financially struggling family where hard work and perseverance shaped everyday life. To support their education and household expenses, he and his brother balanced college with years of demanding catering and cooking work while pursuing their BA LLB degrees.

During the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020, a simple homemade cooking video marked the beginning of the Bhat n Bhat journey. What started with mobile-shot videos and limited resources quickly grew into one of the most loved rural content platforms, crossing over one million YouTube subscribers and earning the Golden Play Button. Alongside practicing law, Sudharshan helped expand the brand into a successful homemade products business with physical outlets and the e-commerce platform bhatnbhat.in. Through his work, he continues to preserve traditional culture and inspire young people to transform challenges into opportunities through dedication and teamwork.
