1963 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible 327/300 4-speed

This 1963 Chevrolet Corvette convertible was first delivered to Gordon Thompson Chevrolet of Jacksonville, Florida, and correspondence provided by the seller states that it is one of approximately 50 convertibles optioned with air conditioning for the model year. The car is powered by a 327ci V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission and is finished in white over black vinyl upholstery. Additional features include a removable hardtop, a black convertible soft top, 15″ steel wheels with three-eared knock-off spinner-style hubcaps, a Positraction differential, power-assisted brakes, power steering, an AM/FM radio, and concealed headlights. This C2 convertible was purchased by the current owner in 2021 and is now offered by the seller on their behalf with manufacturer’s literature, an NCRS Shipping Data Report, and a Virginia title in the name of the owner’s business.

The fiberglass body was finished at the factory in Ermine White (936) and was refinished under previous ownership. Blemishes are present around the car, and the paint on the right front fender has chipping. Features include a removable hardtop and a replacement black convertible soft top as well as flip-up headlamps, fender vents, quad tail lamps, chrome bumperettes, and dual exhaust tips that exit through the rear valance.

Silver-finished 15” steel wheels feature three-eared knock-off spinner-style hubcaps. The C2 was the first Corvette to offer fully independent suspension, with upper and lower control arms at the front and a three-link setup with a transverse leaf spring at the rear. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by four-wheel power-assisted drums.

The cabin features two bucket seats upholstered in black vinyl as well as color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Amenities include air conditioning, a heater, an AM/FM radio, an analog clock, and lap belts. A crack in the dash to the right of the center air vent is shown in the photo gallery.

The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5,300-rpm redline as well as gauges for amperage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 71k miles.

The 327ci V8 was equipped from the factory with a single four-barrel carburetor for a factory rating of 300 horsepower.

The engine stamping are shown above includes sequence 118120, which matches the last six digits of the vehicle’s serial number. The RD suffix corresponds with a 300-horsepower, 327ci V8 for use with a manual transmission.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a Positraction differential. The exhaust is said to have been recently replaced.
