I have to say that when I got accepted into this job, and I realized that I was going to be writing about cats and cat memes for a living, a part of me got worried. Cat memes – funny, wholesome, silly, all of them – were one of my favorite things in the world. They were my favorite cleansers. I could have been having the worst day in the world, but I knew that I could get online, look at a bunch of funny cats, forget everything around me and feel just a little bit better. And I thought… people always say that you shouldn't mix business with pleasure, yet here I am, about to ruin cat memes for myself. Well, I am here to happily report that, six years later, and I still love cat memes so, so much.

Cat memes simply never lose their meowgic. The proof is right here. It's me. The cat memes that you have seen ten times, I have probably seen one thousand times. And I still snort. I still smile. My day is still made just a little bit better every time I make a listicle like this, and that is why I am still here. When people tell me that I have a cool job, I pretty much agree. It's hard to argue against the benefits of writing uplifting listicles of cats for a living. And don't worry, my kitty at home? I've grown to love her 100 times more than I did. Heck, she's reaping the benefits of my job too. I'm more educated about cats, more attuned to her needs, and I'm being a good servant to her and to our cat overlords in general. Yes, I do think she's pleased.
