SOUTHEAST — Cocktail bar Libre announced via Instagram that it closed its doors on Saturday, April 4. The Clinton Street watering hole, which debuted in fall 2023, was known for its mezcal and agave-based drinks, glamorous design and aesthetics, and decadent desserts. In the announcement post, the team shared this statement: “Thank you for every night you chose to spend with us. For every glass raised, every conversation, every bit of love you gave this space.”

BUCKMAN — The Portland brewing scene lost a prominent figure with the closure of home brew supplier F.H. Steinbart on Friday, April 3. The closure was announced back in December, with owner James Ameeti citing a diminishing customer base and rising rent as the main culprits. While initially set to close in December, an outpouring of community support allowed it to stay open a few more months. Established in 1918, it held the distinction of being the oldest brewing supply store in the country. Community members bid the business a fond farewell at a party on Saturday, April 4.

RICHMOND — Tom’s Restaurant, a Southeast Portland mainstay since 1975, temporarily shuttered following a kitchen fire that broke out the night of Wednesday, March 25. No injuries were reported but the restaurant is closed for service until further notice, per KOIN. The neighboring Tom’s Bar shared on Instagram post that it’s still open and serving customers, albeit with a reduced menu.

BEAVERTON — After over 12 years in the space, Hawaiian restaurant 808 Grinds closed down its Beaverton outpost at 10100 SW Park Way on Tuesday, March 17. Happily, a new location at 10970 SW Barnes Road is already in the works. In the interim, the restaurant’s food truck is popping up at Peterkort Towne Square to keep Beavertonites’ Spam musubi and kalua pork plate needs covered. No reopening date is set yet for the new location, but the 808 crew is highly active on social media, so following the Instagram is the best bet for catching the announcement when it comes out.
