Alphabet’s Asymmetry Is All You Need To Know About To Hit ‘buy’

The stock of Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOGL) keeps getting marked down even as its business speeds up. The stock fell 12.65% over the past week to $280.03. Each time the market marks it down, I see the same uneven setup. The business is speeding up on nearly every front, and the stock is priced like a company in decline.

What Keeps Pulling Me Back

Alphabet runs two drivers that feed each other. Search produces the cash. That cash pays for the AI infrastructure behind Google Cloud, and Gemini directs more queries back into Search. Very few companies own the chips, the models, the cloud and the distribution all at once. Alphabet owns all four.

Three Numbers Behind My Conviction

Cloud comes first. Google Cloud revenue reached $30.71B in Q3 2026, up 103%. Its operating income rose to $11.12B from $3.59B a year earlier. Growth has picked up every quarter since it was 28% in Q1 2025. The CEO pointed to “strong demand for our TPU systems across a wide range of customers.”

Search comes second, and it keeps growing. Search and other revenue rose 12% to $63.35B. Management said query growth “is the highest it’s been in the last five years.” The Gemini app passed one billion users. So far, AI is adding to Search.

Price and balance sheet come third. Alphabet trades at a P/E of 12, which works out to an earnings yield of 8.02%. Return on equity is 35.70%, leverage stands at 0.143, and interest coverage is 175.5x. Trailing earnings include large gains on equity holdings, so I knock the multiple down in my head. Even so, operating income grew 29.93%. For income, the quarterly dividend is $0.22 after a 5% raise this year.

Why Alphabet Edges Out Microsoft and Amazon

Most people would reach for Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) first. Azure grew 48% last quarter. But Microsoft trades at a P/E of 29 and has leverage of 0.29. Buying it means paying a higher multiple for slower cloud growth.

The AWS business at Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) grew 39%. The stock trades at a P/E of 35, pays no dividend and reported a trailing free cash outflow of $42.4 billion. Alphabet offers the faster cloud business, the lower multiple and a growing dividend check.

Risk I Track Every Quarter

Spending is heavy: capex hit $51.36B, up 114.4%, and free cash flow came in at negative $9.07B. To pay for it, Alphabet raised $28.7B in senior notes and sold 12M Class A shares for $4.3B and 24M Class C shares for $8.1B through its at-the-market program, with $27.6B still available. That dilutes my stake and raises interest costs. GAAP EPS of $2.12 missed estimates and ended a 12-quarter beat run, although an $8.7B equity-securities loss cut EPS by $0.55.

For me, the thesis holds because the spending is showing up in results. Cloud backlog exceeded $460 billion in Q1. Operating cash flow reached $42.29B last quarter. That 175.5x interest coverage leaves plenty of room to has the new debt.

What Keeps the Alphabet Thesis Intact

Management says Alphabet is “now on a half-trillion dollar revenue run rate.” Revenue has grown by double digits for 13 straight quarters. The two things I keep an eye on are Cloud margins and how much new stock Alphabet issues. If both stay on track, a company growing this fast at 12 times earnings stands out.
