Amazon’s New ‘getitfast’ Delivery Page Lists Items You Can Have In 1 Hour
Amazon announced on Tuesday that it’s making it easier for users to find products eligible for its 1-hour and 3-hour delivery options with a new “getitfast” page for same-day delivery products available in their area. Amazon is also introducing new search filters for 1-hour and 3-hour delivery, along with tags on eligible products — which could be convenient, but could also do even more to squeeze out local businesses if this becomes a popular option.
Amazon says it’s planning to continue expanding availability for its same-day delivery options:
“The convenience of 1-hour delivery is currently available to customers in hundreds of cities and towns across the U.S., including parts of major metropolitan areas like Los Angeles, Chicago, and Washington, D.C., and smaller cities such as Des Moines, Iowa; Boise, Idaho; and American Fork, Utah. 3-hour delivery is offered in over 2,000 cities and towns, which includes large, mid-size, and small cities, as well as surrounding suburbs like Cornwall, Pennsylvania; Harrah, Oklahoma; and Arabi, Louisiana. Our new delivery options are available seven days a week and we plan to bring 1-hour and 3-hour delivery to even more areas in the coming months.”
Amazon previously tested 30-minute deliveries in Seattle and Philadelphia, and over the last year, has shifted its strategy with robots and fulfillment centers designed to bring faster delivery to more regions, including rural areas.
The 1-hour delivery option costs $9.99 for Prime members or $19.99 for non-members and 3-hour delivery costs $4.99 or $14.99, respectively. Standard same-day delivery is still free for Prime members on orders over $25 or $12.99 for non-members.
