Amit Shah Hits Back At Opposition In Lok Sabha During No-confidence Motion Debate On Om Birla
India’s Home Minister Amit Shah launched a sharp attack on opposition parties in the Lok Sabha while responding during the debate on a no-confidence motion related to Speaker Om Birla.
During the heated exchange, Shah accused the opposition of attempting to defame both the Bharatiya Janata Party and the country. He said the opposition had “stooped very low” in its political attacks against the ruling party.
The Home Minister also invoked the The Emergency (India 1975–1977), accusing the opposition—particularly the Indian National Congress—of suppressing dissent during that period.
Shah said that unlike the events during the Emergency, the current government has never oppressed opposition voices in Parliament. He alleged that in 1975 several opposition leaders were jailed and democratic institutions were weakened.
The debate in the Lok Sabha saw sharp exchanges between the treasury benches and opposition members, reflecting the continuing political confrontation inside Parliament.
