  • Apple stock fell 3% in extended trading after its first earnings report under CEO John Ternus.
  • EPS came in at $2.10 against $1.99 expected, and revenue hit $114.48 billion.
  • iPad and Wearables, Home and Accessories revenue missed estimates.

Apple (AAPL) stock slid 3% in extended trading Monday after the company posted its fiscal fourth-quarter results. The report beat on earnings and revenue, but a soft margin forecast weighed on the stock.

Apple Inc., AAPL

This was the first report since John Ternus took over as CEO on Sept. 1, succeeding Tim Cook. Ternus called the past year Apple’s “best fiscal year ever.”

Earnings per share came in at $2.10, above the $1.99 analysts expected. Tariff refunds added 5 cents to that figure.

Revenue reached $114.48 billion, compared with $113.39 billion expected, according to LSEG. That is up 12% from $102.5 billion a year earlier.

Gross margin was 47.9%, ahead of the 47.5% estimate. That part of the report was solid.

How the Product Lines Performed

iPhone revenue came in at $57.58 billion, topping the $56.54 billion estimate. The quarter included only eight days of iPhone 18 Pro sales.

Apple’s new flagship iPhone Duo did not reach store shelves until after the period ended. So it did not add to these numbers.

Mac revenue was $10.79 billion, well above the $9.61 billion estimate. It was the strongest beat among the major product lines.

iPad revenue was $6.23 billion, short of the $6.7 billion estimate. That was one of two misses in the report.

Wearables, Home and Accessories brought in $8.3 billion, below the $9.06 billion estimate. Other Products revenue was $31.57 billion, nearly matching the $31.58 billion estimate.

Apple raised prices across the board in June after flagging memory supply problems. iPhone prices went up by $100.

Ternus said Apple “reluctantly” raised prices, and that the move helped offset component costs. Apple also said its memory costs were higher this quarter than in the June period.

What Apple Told Investors About the Next Quarter

For the December quarter, Apple expects revenue to grow 7% to 10%. Analysts polled by LSEG had looked for 6.1%.

The margin outlook was the problem. CFO Kevan Parekh guided gross margin to between 45% and 46%, below the 46.3% average estimate and lower than the fourth quarter.

Apple also expects services sales to rise 8% to 9%. That points to slower growth in that business.

Ternus told CNBC’s MacKenzie Sigalos that growth came despite supply limits and foreign exchange headwinds. “It just feels like we’ve never been more confident that the best is yet to come,” he said.
