The Boston Bruins continued their winning ways at TD Garden on Saturday afternoon.

Boston picked up a big 3-1 win over the Washington Capitals to extend their win streak on home ice to 12 games. The win was also huge for the standings as Washington entered the game just four points back of Boston for the final Wild Card spot.

“It’s an important time of year, and I think we are really rallying around that,” goalie Jeremy Swayman said, as seen on NESN’s postgame coverage. “It’s excellent. You hear the music bumping coming down the hallway, and you know you are going to get embraced by your brothers. That’s an addictive feeling. I think that we are going to do whatever it takes to keep that going.”  

Boston was coming off a disappointing loss to the Nashville Predators in their last game, and head coach Marco Sturm said the team knew they had to play well.

“We knew what to do,” Sturm said. “I think the only difference was it was a tight game going into the third, and then obviously we wanted to push a little bit more. We had the good momentum,” head coach Marco Sturm said. “I think Washington today, especially in the third, there was not really a big, big push back either. I think that allowed us to be more aggressive.”

With the win, Boston is now three points up on the Columbus Blue Jackets and six points up on the Ottawa Senators and Capitals for the final Wild Card spot.

“It’s big,” David Pastrnak said. “Honestly, good bounce-back win. Important game, important weekend ahead of us. That is step one; we need to take care of business tomorrow. Play with the same confidence on the road.”

Boston will return to the ice on Sunday on the road against the Pittsburgh Penguins in the second-half of a back-to-back.
