Building A Content Os In Notion For My Niche Website. Has Anyone Connected Claude Via Mcp? Looking For Advice Before I Migrate

I run a niche content website and everything lives in Google Drive right now: process documents, reference guides, a content index tracking every article, an image library. It works, but it feels fragile. A folder of docs isn’t an OS. It’s just a folder.

I’ve been researching Notion as a proper home base and I think I’ve landed on what I actually want to build:

A visual dashboard as the homepage: article count, next task, orientation at a glance.

A content library in gallery view: every article as a card with status, tier, category, cover image.

A process/reference section: all the prompt documents and guidelines I work from.

An asset library: illustrations, HTML components, brand files.

A simple business section: affiliate tracker, subscriptions, monthly notes.

The visual side matters to me. I want covers, icons, the Notion illustration aesthetic. Something that feels like a proper operation when I open it, not a productivity experiment.

I’ve been using Claude heavily for content work: article drafts, SEO research, internal linking etc. I’ve just gone down the rabbit hole on Notion MCP and realised I can connect Claude directly to my Notion workspace so it can read and write without me copy-pasting context every session.

A few things I’m trying to figure out:

Is there a solopreneur or content creator OS template that’s actually beautiful and not just functional? I keep seeing templates that are essentially tables with text underneath. I want the click-in, click-in, click-in experience with real visual hierarchy.

Has anyone connected Claude via MCP to their Notion workspace and actually used it in a regular workflow? What does that look like day to day?

Is the Business plan the minimum I need for the MCP + AI features to work properly, or can I get meaningful functionality on Plus?

Happy to hear from anyone who’s built something similar or has strong opinions on where to start. Trying to avoid the classic Notion trap of spending two weeks building the system instead of doing the actual work.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
