Chatgpt 5.6 Sol Vs Claude Opus 5 — Which Is Better For Research, Strategy, Seo And Long-form Analysis?

Trying to figure out which one to commit to as my main model, and I'd rather hear from people who've genuinely used both a lot than just skim another benchmark comparison.

Here's roughly what I use AI for day to day:

SEO/GEO work — keyword research, topical authority, content strategy, figuring out how AI Search/GEO/AEO is changing things, and honestly just getting a realistic read on whether something can actually rank. Affiliate niche research too — spotting underserved niches, sizing up the competition and audience, checking monetization potential and affiliate programs.

A lot of business strategy stuff as well — poking holes in ideas, red-teaming a plan, deciding between a few options when none of them are obviously right.

Deep research is a big one for me — not "summarize the top 10 search results" but actually pulling from a bunch of sources, cross-checking claims against each other, and landing on a real conclusion instead of just a recap.

Beyond that: planning content (websites, blogs, YouTube, Twitch), long-form writing (articles, guides, opinion pieces, proper reports), career/job-search strategy, gaming strategy for the kind of games where I want actual depth instead of generic tips, and just everyday decisions where I care more about accuracy and the model actually following what I asked than about speed.

What matters most to me, roughly in order: how well it reasons and thinks strategically, whether it'll push back on me instead of just agreeing, quality of deep/web research, how often it just makes stuff up, how well it sticks to long detailed prompts, how well it holds context over a long conversation, how good it actually is at SEO/GEO and business analysis, writing quality, and whether it's willing to just give me a straight recommendation when the evidence clearly points one way.

Coding isn't really part of my use case, so coding benchmarks don't move the needle for me here.

So — for this kind of work, which would you pick as your daily driver in 2026, ChatGPT 5.6 Sol or Claude Opus 5? I'm especially interested in where one clearly wins over the other rather than "they're both fine." And if you use both — are there specific tasks where you consistently switch from one to the other? Also curious: if Opus 5 comes out ahead, is the gap big enough in these areas to actually justify paying more for it?
