College Football Rankings After Week 1: Updated Coaches Poll, Ap Top 25 For Sec

SEC teams took care of business in Week 1 of the college football season.

The conference went 16-0 to start the campaign, marking the first time since 1997 it swept the opening weekend.

The biggest storyline in the SEC was LSU, which after a brief delay started off the Lane Kiffin era with a 51-10 statement win at home over Clemson with ESPN's "College GameDay" in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Quarterback Sam Leavitt was fantastic, passing for 230 yards with a touchdown while rushing for 113 yards with two scores.

Ole Miss capped the conference's weekend off with an impressive win, taking down Louisville 41-38 on Sunday, Sept. 6 thanks to a walk-off 48-yard field goal. The Cardinals, the first team left out of the preseason US LBM Coaches Poll, were a solid early-season test for the Rebels, who are coming off a College Football Playoff semifinal appearance last season.

Elsewhere, ranked teams Georgia, Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Alabama, Tennessee and Missouri all dominated against lesser opponents.
