CoreWeave (NASDAQ:CRWV) trades at $61.39, and its stock has become the market’s shock proxy for every worry about how NVIDIA (NASDAQ:NVDA) finances the AI build-out.

CoreWeave rents NVIDIA GPU capacity to AI labs, hyperscalers and enterprises. NVIDIA is both its supplier and a shareholder. It bought $2 billion of Class A stock and expanded a partnership to build 5+ GW of AI factories by 2030. Shares and bonds slipped as AI debt fears mounted, and the stock fell 11.91% in the latest session after NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang said “I’m optimistic. Their cost of capital is actually decreasing.”

A $104 Billion Backlog Selling at a Fraction of Its Size

Second-quarter revenue rose 112.3% to $2.58 billion, and GAAP EPS of -$1.14 beat the -$1.447 consensus. Backlog reached about $104 billion, before $25+ billion of new commitments signed early in the third quarter.

Pricing power is building. CoreWeave raised prices about 25% across SKUs, and new contracts carry contribution margins 5 to 10 percentage points higher. Full-year revenue guidance rose to $12.4 billion to $13.2 billion. NVIDIA says its compute is “fully utilized across every cloud we serve.”

Leverage Turns Every NVIDIA Headline Into a Stress Test

CoreWeave carries debt-to-equity of 8.94 and interest coverage of -0.04. Interest expense rose to $640M from $267M, with third-quarter guidance of $860 million to $940 million. Free cash flow was -$5.74 billion, and 2026 capex is guided to $35 billion to $39 billion.

NVIDIA’s own words focus the risk. Management granted “some will call this circular financing” and stressed its compute “can be redeployed to support other customers,” a protection for NVIDIA that leaves individual neoclouds exposed. Customer concentration in Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META), OpenAI and Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) adds to the pressure, along with a securities class action over construction delays.

Operating Leverage Arrives as the Interest Bill Climbs

Third-quarter adjusted operating income guidance of $200 million to $260 million signals real progress, with margins expected to reach the low teens in Q4. Operating cash flow turned positive at $679M. That still trails a larger interest bill. Faster margin gains would strengthen the outlook. A financing stumble or customer delay would weaken it.

Analysts See Big Upside as CoreWeave Badly Trails the S&P 500

The average target of $140.58 implies about 129% upside, though targets are one input. Coverage from 42 analysts:

  • Strong Buy: 8
  • Buy: 23
  • Hold: 8
  • Sell: 2
  • Strong Sell: 1

The stock fell 25.21% in a week as the S&P 500 slipped 1.97%. Over one year, CoreWeave is down 56.69%, compared with a gain of 15.53% for the index. It trades near its 52-week low of $59.51.

CoreWeave’s Next Test Comes When Income Outruns Interest

At $61.39, CoreWeave’s execution is running into its financing costs.

The business is executing. Revenue keeps doubling, and management raised its year-end active power target to more than 1.85 gigawatts. Yet each time investors question NVIDIA’s support for the research labs and neoclouds buying its chips, CoreWeave’s leveraged equity reprices first (we covered seven companies supplying the AI data-center expansion, power and cooling and networking rather than the chipmakers, in a free report here). That test will repeat as Vera Rubin ramps and financing needs grow.

A rebound could follow if credit fears ease. For now, interest expense still exceeds adjusted operating income. Each quarter, track that gap, backlog conversion and borrowing costs on new debt.

The key signal for this shock proxy is when the income line catches the interest line.
