Every Law Passed In The Name Of "safety" Is Actually For Profit
I live in NYS and have been studying this state obsessively, especially compared to other states for years now. As a result, we are now working feverishly to flee this place and it's not for better weather. Lol
I'll keep it brief with 1 example, but first before beginning my research, I never quite comprehended that State and local municipalities are just corporations. Literally & hypothetically in many cases. Corporations specialize in 1 thing. Extracting as much profit as possible from the populations. They're technically considered completely Psychopathic as entities (according to many modern studies, books and literature.)
So NYS as an entity, is a psychopath in essence. Among other states & municipalities.
Ok, I'm NY and it's governer or corporate sponsored leadership and I need more money, but I already have the highest taxes in the nation, so what else could I possibly do?
Villainize. Use tax money to launch a PR campaign to Villainize something people do or don't do. Finance commercials, ads, papers to villainize an activity and convince the populations it's bad or "unsafe"... Cha ching.
We'll use the seat belt laws. NYS was the 1st state in the nation to pass the seat belt laws. In the name of "safety" they took our personal choice/freedom to decide for ourselves to buckle up. But this wasn't a leadership decision based on ethics, more based on profit.
Governor Mario Cuomo (dem) signed the nation's 1st seat belt laws into effect in NYS in 1984. Coincidentally at the time, the nation's largest auto makers were aggressively spending billions on lobbying state lawmakers/leaders into forcing people to buckle up. Why? Because they wanted to postpone or avoid very expensive airbag mandates being financed simultaneously by massive health & auto insurance conglomerates, which were essentially (doing the same thing). Financing campaigns, and lobbying federal/state leadership to regulate the auto industry into implementing expensive airbag systems in newer vehicles.
- Furthermore to date, this is a gross estimation... The revenue on seat belt infractions made by the great state of NYS has exceeded half a billion dollars.
A few more quick examples, Sin tax. Tobacco products in the great state are taxed 75% of their wholesale price. Another decision not motivated by "safety" but for profit. Massive corporate health insurance conglomerates bank rolled the leadership, while the leadership were simultaneously thinking of the substantial tax subsidies that could be made by villainizing and putting outrageous taxes on Tobacco products. This includes vape products, alcohol, etc. For example alcohol has anywhere from 15%-40% of its final sale price in taxes alone.
Don't get started on the green energy scheme. Because of NYS leadership we now have the 3rd highest cost utilities in the nation. A majority of the expenses are hidden taxes in the delivery fees that actually exceed the costs per kilowatt.
You might think "good, the world is a better place" but what about individual citizens being able to decide for themselves in this "free country". Shouldn't our health & safety be up to us? Instead of some centralized money corrupted entity?
Or you might say "late stage capitalism". Actually the opposite... We haven't had true capitalism in this country since the turn of the century, and in states like NYS especially, we've been more socialist than capitalist for decades now. You can actually graph inflation and economic decline in the USA with the aggressive implementation of more socialist style government regulations. Government controlling & regulating big business while small businesses are left alone. But the problem is, big business runs the government. Lol
Always follow the profits, and you'll find the true motives. Every single time it's under the guise of "safety". There's always a "boogeyman" or crisis narratives that justify the theft of more liberties/freedoms (and more importantly) financial security from the working classes.
