Google Meet’s New Ai Update Changes In-person Meetings
Google’s added a ton of features to its Meet video calling platform over the years, and it looks like the app is once again getting a new update with a new AI-powered note-taking tool. More specifically, users can now launch an automated note-taking session directly from Meet’s home screen both on mobile and web.
The new feature can be enabled by selecting the “Take notes” button—once recording begins, Gemini captures the conversation in real time throughout the call. When the meeting ends, pressing the button stops audio capture, and Gemini will automatically compile structured notes, action items, and a complete transcript into a Google Doc. These will then be saved directly to Google Drive, with a file link emailed to the user.

The rollout follows an extended timeline across different platforms; Android deployment began on August 11, 2026, while the Web release started rolling out on August 14, 2026. Meanwhile, users on iOS will get access to the feature by August 31, 2026. Google notes that feature visibility across all platforms may take longer than 15 days.
Finally, the new feature is available to Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus, Frontline Plus, and Google AI Pro for Education accounts. It is also available for consumer users on Google AI Pro and Ultra plans.
