Honestly, When I Was A Kid, I Thought Ai Would Mean Physical Machines

Seriously, no matter how fast AI is advancing, where are the actual functional androids? Instead of getting proper robots, we’re just getting spammed with weird AI porn and infinite generated slop.

Wish it was the other way around. How fucking great would it be to have a nice, obedient android wife taking care of all the housework and, well, taking care of business in bed? Ahem... anyway!

Don't get me wrong, AI is pretty insane in some ways. My younger brother uses an AI translation tool that mirrors the original anime voice actors with native-level audio quality, which is mind-blowing. As a tool, it's awesome. But why did tech companies prioritize automating art, writing, and coding first, while physical robotics is still taking a backseat?

When I was a kid, I envisioned a sci-fi future where robots do the chores so humans can enjoy drawing, coding, and living. Instead, humans are still doing chores while lazy-prompting AI to generate fan art with a single click. Who even gets a hit of genuine dopamine from receiving a generated image made in two seconds?

I was putting together a side project team recently and picked up a student who heavily relied on AI. They just reproduced basic mistakes, and checking their work took so much extra time that I had to kick them off the team. It feels like instead of building useful helper robots, we’re just building tools to outsource basic thinking.

Anyway, I just hope we actually get domestic helper androids before we all end up living like the humans floating in chairs in WALL-E. Anybody else still waiting on their home android, or are we just stuck with text prompts forever? lol
