India’s Wealth Boom: Billionaires To Jump 51% By 2031, Says Knight Frank
ndia’s wealth story is accelerating rapidly, with the country now ranking sixth globally in ultra-high-net-worth individuals, according to Knight Frank. The number of individuals with assets above $30 million stands at nearly 20,000 and is projected to grow 27% by 2031.
Even more striking is the surge in billionaires. India, currently home to over 200 billionaires, is expected to see a 51% jump in this elite club by 2031, making it one of the fastest-growing wealth markets globally.
The report highlights a structural shift in wealth creation, driven by entrepreneurship, expanding capital markets, and rising global investor participation. While Mumbai remains the wealth capital, cities like Delhi, Hyderabad, and Chennai are gaining ground, reflecting a broader spread of prosperity across the country.
