It's Been A While, But I've Been Working On Something!
Hey everyone, I think last time I was here I was probably talking about a news/ media aggregator for high growth industries - we acquihired with myself and the team being at the company for 3+ years now. But I've started something new on the side that is slowly becoming more of a main and I am getting excited again for business vs just being mostly an employee!
We're playing in the public sector a bit which is new to me vs B2B and B2C offerings I've always done, the other side of the team has heavy experience in that sector, and worked public sector as well which helps a ton.
We do have both B2B and B2C product offerings, the B2C is more of a utility offering for a general person who is investigating their own leads/ case and charges in a Spokeo/ WhitePages styled checkout experience unlocking the full report. The B2B has a dashboard for the user to search directly for items in the database similarly to the B2C, but gets full results as part of the plan, or use the API to integrate into their platform or offering in either a white label or badge branded co-result with their end product.
The B2B is as expected a fairly long closing window, lots of demo's, and soon lots of conferences. The B2C offer is more in my lane since SEO, ads and traffic has always been my target for a certain conversion rate based on funnels I build around that. Has anyone worked in a similar space where you're possibly ranking for subsets of data displayed on pages like Spokeo or Whitepages, and the user pays to unlock the rest - but at the same time the page has just enough data to rank on google for searches, I understand the general concept of this, but if there is a targeted way for the pages to be rolled out and indexed since it'd be in the millions of possible pages and related data points. Our DB is in the range of 2b possible end reports for the page displays. The most pages I've ever indexed was on our aggregator ~350k pages of the ~90m... is that what would be typical for anyone attempting bulk page index's that site had about 33k backlinks so it was strong in that aspect, and I'm assuming I'm going to have to build out some sort of backlinking strategy like in-article cards, or a specific product to increase public use for backlink possibilities...
I guess I'm just rambling at this point, thoughts? Any Ideas on scaling this type of webapp/page?
