Stakeholders in the luxury and business sectors have said women deserve recognition every day for their contributions to families, businesses and society, stressing that their impact goes far beyond a single day of celebration.

The position was expressed on Monday in Abuja during an event held to mark International Women’s Day and Women’s Month.

The gathering also featured the relaunch of Swiss watch brand Raymond Weil in Nigeria, bringing together luxury brands, business leaders and other stakeholders to celebrate craftsmanship, partnership and the role of women in shaping society.

Country Director for the Middle East and Africa at Raymond Weil, Jose Ramos Amatrian, highlighted the growing influence of women in shaping the future and emphasized the importance of supporting women across sectors.

He noted that the collaboration marked the beginning of what stakeholders hope will be a successful journey for the brand in Nigeria.

Nigerian actress and film producer Monalisa Chinda said the celebration was an opportunity to recognize women’s strength, achievements and enduring influence in society.

She noted that women represent grace, excellence and legacy, and emphasized the importance of celebrating their contributions across generations.

Honorary Consul of Colombia to Nigeria Maricel Romero Cantel Jamal described the collaboration among luxury retailers to celebrate women as a unique opportunity to foster innovation and community development.

She said empowering women and creating opportunities for them often leads to broader social and economic growth within communities.

Chief Executive Officer of Kara Showroom, Onyekachi Okpara, said women remain the essence of society and play vital roles in families, workplaces and communities.

She stressed that supporting women-led initiatives and valuing women’s voices helps drive better ideas, innovation and stronger social structures.

Executive Director of Luxury Group Nigeria, Cezno Benson, said women should be appreciated beyond special occasions because of their continuous impact on society.

He noted that women contribute significantly to family life, entrepreneurship and national development, adding that many Nigerian women demonstrate strong dedication and passion in their various fields.

Also speaking, Executive Director of Whole 19 Group, Afolami Ajidahun, said the event also marked the official relaunch of the Raymond Weil brand in Nigeria.

He noted that the Swiss watchmaker remains one of the few family-owned and independent companies in the global watch industry and has a presence in dozens of countries with thousands of retail outlets.
