Jennifer Eckhart was found dead at her Florida home on September 19. The Martin County Sheriff’s Office ruled the 36-year-old former Fox Business associate producer’s death a suicide.

Eckhart worked at Fox Business Network from 2013 to 2020. After Fox News fired her in 2020, she filed a lawsuit accusing then-anchor Ed Henry of rape and alleging that the network had failed to act on his harassment of women.

Fox News fired Henry that year following a sexual misconduct investigation. He now works at Newsmax.

Her case against Henry ended in a settlement in June 2025. A judge had dismissed Fox News from the lawsuit that March, finding that the evidence couldn’t support a jury’s conclusion that management knew or should’ve known about the alleged misconduct and failed to prevent it.

Eckhart continued challenging the network’s dismissal. In an October 2025 Instagram post, she said her lawyers were appealing and wrote: “This case was never just about me.” She added: “It has always been about accountability and forcing corporations to answer for the cultures of abuse they protect, enable, and excuse behind power, money, and silence.”

An appeals court upheld the dismissal, her attorney Michael J. Willemin said. “We were deeply saddened to learn of Ms. Eckhart’s passing, and our thoughts are with her family at this time,” he said.

Beyond her work in television, Eckhart was a podcaster and mental health activist. She founded the Reinvented Project, which supported trauma survivors through animal-assisted healing. Born in Miami, she graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in telecommunications-news and previously worked for ESPN Radio and Gainesville’s PBS affiliate, WUFT-TV.
