Kim Mulkey Reflects On Flau'jae Johnson's Career Ahead Of Senior Day

LSU women's basketball's game against Tennessee on Thursday inside the PMAC marks Senior Day. Flau'Jae Johnson will be honored for her four years donning the purple and gold before playing against an SEC opponent at home for the final time.

Head coach Kim Mulkey reflected on her time coaching the Savannah, GA native. Johnson was the first McDonald's All-American Mulkey signed when she took the reins in Baton Rouge. The pair won the first national championship in program history when Johnson was a freshman.

"What a remarkable career," Mulkey said of Johnson. "The things that she has done, the attention she has brought to not only our program, but to LSU. She's a household name."

Johnson averaged double-figure scoring numbers every year and is already one of the program's most prolific scorers of all time. Ahead of Thursday's game, she owns career marks of 14.7 points and 5.4 rebounds per game with a 47% field goal percentage.

With different business ventures such as her music career and NIL deals, Johnson never wavered in her commitment to the game and LSU. The senior gives back every year to the Kay Yow Foundation when the Tigers play their annual Play4Kay game. She dedicates extra time to working on her craft, drawing special praise from Mulkey.

"She's one of the hardest workers I've ever coached," Mulkey said. "She's one of two that I've, in my career, said 'put the ball down. You're not working out with your trainer. Put the ball down.' Can you imagine saying that to kids that just work like that?

"It's just all she knows is to go to work and she does it in the wee hours of the morning. It's become routine for her."
