Law Firm Expanding In Downtown Tower
WilmerHale came to Denver 12 years ago with two attorneys. Now, its partner-in-charge says the firm is “overflowing” in its downtown office.
“Ever since we opened the office in Denver, we’ve been expanding. We started off with half a floor in our building. We are now overflowing on the [full] floor we have,” Mindy Sooter said.
At the end of last year, the firm leased an additional half floor at 1225 17th St., public records show, bringing its total footprint to 35,000 square feet. Records state the build-out will cost nearly $1.2 million.
“We expect to continue growing at the same pace we’ve been growing for the last several years. So, we’ve built in the need for more immediate space, with a little bit of space to grow and expand, perhaps even in this building as we grow over the years,” Sooter added.

WilmerHale has 40 attorneys in its Denver office. The firm has a dozen offices scattered across the globe and describes its practice as dealing in “the intersection of government, technology and business.”
Employees have to be in the office four days a week. Sooter said many Denver employees come in more frequently, necessitating the extra space.
“Ultimately, we decided that staying put in this building would offer both us and our clients the best option. I think the building has plans for improvement over the years, and that was very tempting as well. And we like our central location,” she said.
Public records show that the building’s owner, Dallas, Texas-based Lone Star Funds, is planning to renovate the ground floor, outdoor plaza and third floor. The private equity firm bought the building last year for $132 million.
