Looking For Feedback From The Gardening Community!

Card image cap

My father used to have a vegetative propagation business selling starter plants of specific cultivars, and it has since begun to die a slow death as his customers are aging with him and he hasn't advertised in years.

I'm wondering if there might be any hope in bringing the business online, and I'm looking for feedback from this subreddit to understand whether this is a dumb idea or not. Think: Rare Starts / World Garden / Cultivars From Around the World. Something to speed up and make easier your gardening process while providing tasty/hard to start/exptic/cool veggies.

Essentially, we'd be selling live starts of exotic or hard-to-find cultivars of vegetables (and maybe flowers?) for growers to grow themselves at home.

I know there are plenty of seed companies online, but I haven't seen many companies focused specifically on rare vegetable starter plants. I know our biggest competition would be Lowes, Home Depot, and your local flower shops, but I'm wondering if the attraction of fairly priced, hard-to-find cultivars delivered straight to your door, ready to transplant, would be of interest to anyone.

I think I've already got the logistics figured out and so I'm really just looking for whether or not there'd be interest in something like this!

If so, please feel free to mention what veggies you might love to see on the site!

Tromboncino squash from Italy? Okinawan Purple sweet potatoes? Any and all advice or recommendations are welcome!

Thanks for reading my post!
