Mcconnell’s Staff Silent On Emergency/cpr Report
Newsweek reports:
Senate Republican Mitch McConnell’s office declined to address reports that the 84-year-old lawmaker was found unconscious at his Washington, D.C., home before being hospitalized last month, offering only a brief update on his recovery. Reports citing emergency dispatch audio said responders were called to McConnell’s residence on June 14 for an unconscious patient and later discussed “CPR in progress” for a possible cardiac emergency.
Asked about the reports, which originated from Punchbowl News along with independent journalist Desirée Townsend on X, McConnell’s office did not comment on the nature of the medical incident. Instead, a spokesperson reiterated a previous statement, saying in an emailed response to Newsweek: “Senator McConnell is still working closely with staff on Senate business and Kentucky matters as he continues his recovery. However, he will not be voting this week.”
Ken Klippenstein reports at Substack:
Mitch McConnell, the 84-year-old Kentucky senator whose term expires on January 3, 2027, may expire before that. His status and whereabouts have become as big of a state secret as anything in the CIA’s vaults. Two weeks ago, on the morning of June 14, he was found unconscious at his D.C. home and rushed to the hospital, after an EMS call reporting a cardiac arrest at his address and that he’d been given CPR.
We only learned of the incident this week, after the emergency dispatch audio was published. Previously, all McConnell’s office had said was that he was in the hospital and “receiving excellent care.” So has he gone to the big turtle terrarium in the sky? Your guess is as good as mine. In other words, the senior senator responsible for representing a state of over four million people went MIA and you’re not allowed to know why, or well, anything.
If he does not return, McConnell’s seat will remain empty until January as it’s too late to hold a special election.
An EMS audio recording published by an independent journalist indicates that emergency responders were called to the Washington, DC, home of Sen. Mitch McConnell for an “unconscious” person the same day he was hospitalized last month. https://cnn.it/44ad10x
