Meta Agrees To Report Child Abuse Cases To Indian Agencies Amid Government Crackdown | Details
Facebook parent Meta has agreed to comply with mandatory reporting protocols for Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) cases directly to Indian law enforcement agencies. The decision follows intense regulatory pressure from Indian authorities, including the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, under the POCSO Act and IT rules. Senior Meta India executives appeared before the NCPCR on September 9, 2026, in connection with an inquiry into alleged advertisements linked to child sexual abuse material on Instagram.
