Meta AI Comes to Mac With Better Desktop Features

Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta has officially released a Meta AI app for Mac, extending its AI assistant beyond mobile and web.

The new desktop app gives creators, professionals, and businesses faster access to Meta AI, with features tailored for macOS.

One of the new features is window sharing. People can securely share an app window with Meta AI, allowing the assistant to read what is visible, answer questions about documents, and give suggestions based on what is on the screen.

Unlike computer-controlled helpers, Meta AI can see content but does not take control of the Mac.

The app also offers system-wide typing, letting users speak naturally and add text to emails, documents, notes, or other Mac apps.

A quick keyboard shortcut lets Meta AI start instantly without interrupting the user.

Meta is making the desktop app more than a chatbot. For creators and small businesses, the assistant links directly to Instagram and Facebook accounts, letting users ask about likes, check post performance, and get content ideas.

Connection with Google Workspace also lets Meta AI help create presentations, documents, and spreadsheets using work data; the new release comes as competition among desktop AI helpers intensifies.

OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and Anthropic’s Claude have all added productivity features over the past year, making desktop AI an increasingly important tool for professionals.

The Mac app is now in beta for Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 15 or later. Meta says the desktop version feels like a Mac app while offering quick access to chats, saved messages, created images, and regular AI tasks.

With the addition of desktop features and better business connections, Meta is clearly taking its AI assistant beyond media and into daily work.

For Mac users, the app is Meta’s effort, yet it has yet to match other desktop AI tools.
