Mir Raza Faced ‘acid Bath’ Torture Amid Brutal Killing, Lawyer Jibran Nasir Says

KARACHI – The mysterious death of young businessman Mir Raza Ali Khan has taken another turn after lawyer Jibran Nasir alleged that the young entrepreneur was subjected to hours of torture, including being doused with acid, before he was killed.

Speaking at a press conference in Karachi, Nasir claimed Raza remained alive until the evening of July 28 and was allegedly held captive and tortured for around 12 hours before his death. The lawyer alleged that acid was poured over Raza and raised the possibility that he may also have been forced to consume it. The allegations have not yet been independently verified by investigators.

Nasir questioned how the alleged perpetrators appeared to have detailed knowledge of Karachi’s surveillance network. He claimed the suspects knew which locations had no CCTV coverage, where Raza could be abducted without attracting attention and where his body could later be abandoned.

He also challenged explanations surrounding Raza’s financial transactions and phone, questioning whether the victim could realistically have emptied his own accounts or whether his mobile activity could simply be explained as hacking.

Nasir also accused authorities of mishandling potentially crucial evidence. He said Raza’s smartwatch was sought by authorities on the day of his Soyem and alleged that SSP Samiullah Soomro retained important evidence for eight days. The lawyer said the inclusion of Section 201 in the FIR, which concerns the destruction, disappearance or concealment of evidence.

He further questioned the presence of a police officer on the investigation team who, according to Nasir, had been in Kashmir around two weeks before the murder and had still not returned. Nasir asked whether the officer was expected to conduct a Karachi murder investigation while remaining in Kashmir.

He also demanded departmental action against police officials at Gulistan-e-Johar Police Station, alleging that crucial evidence was ignored.

Mir Raza – Profile

Mir Raza Ali Khan was a 25-year-old Karachi businessman and founder of dessert brand Wafflix. An IBA Karachi graduate, he had reportedly been running the business for around five years and was engaged to be married. He disappeared from his PECHS residence during the early hours of July 28, 2026.

CCTV footage reportedly showed him leaving his home at around 4am and entering a white vehicle. His family later reported him missing. The next day, his body was found in bushes near Shahi Qila Ground in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, with a fatal gunshot wound.

The first post-mortem reportedly concluded that Raza died from a gunshot wound to the chest. Police initially investigated the possibility of suicide, reportedly citing financial difficulties, business losses and substantial investment-related liabilities.

His family strongly rejected that explanation and alleged that Raza had instead been abducted, tortured and murdered. A judicial magistrate subsequently ordered an exhumation and second post-mortem following objections from the family.

The subsequent examination reportedly found the bullet entry wound on Raza’s upper back, along with injuries to his head, face, ribs, right flank and feet. Several of those injuries were reportedly described as having occurred before death. For Raza’s family and Nasir, the findings have reinforced the allegation that he was subjected to violence and torture before being killed.

Murder section added after Post Martem

An FIR was initially registered over Raza’s disappearance and alleged abduction, while Section 302 relating to murder was later added. Several individuals have been detained during the investigation, but authorities have yet to publicly establish who allegedly abducted Raza, where he was taken, who shot him or what the motive was.

The suspected weapon has also not been recovered, adding another major unanswered question to the case. Amid mounting criticism, Sindh Police constituted a new investigation team headed by DIG Crime and Investigation Amir Farooqi, which reportedly began work around August 10.

The case has now become one of Karachi’s most closely watched murder investigations, with conflicting post-mortem findings, allegations of prolonged torture and acid exposure, questions over missing evidence and the unresolved whereabouts of the suspected weapon all deepening the mystery.
