Mit Made This Prediction In 1972. Now We're Entering The Part Nobody Has Seen.

In the early 1970s, research commissioned by the Club of Rome led a team at MIT to develop World3, a computer model designed to simulate interactions between population, industrial production, food, pollution and finite resources. The work became the basis of the influential 1972 report The Limits to Growth.

More than five decades later, the Club of Rome and its models remain the subject of debate. Subsequent comparisons with real-world data have renewed interest in the original scenarios, particularly as the world approaches the 2030–2040 period associated with major changes in several of the modeled trajectories.

The organization has also attracted controversy over its views on population, resource scarcity, national sovereignty and international cooperation — ideas that continue to appear, in different forms, throughout modern discussions of global governance and sustainable development.

Whether these similarities represent the influence of ideas developed decades ago, the natural response of different institutions to the same global problems, or something more deliberate remains a matter of interpretation.

Was The Limits to Growth simply a prediction of what was coming, or did it become a blueprint for what came next?
