Rabat– Morocco has called for stronger economic cooperation with the United States, seeking to translate longstanding political ties into new opportunities for trade, investment, and industrial partnerships during the first edition of Morocco Days in Miami.

The event, organized by the Consulate General of Morocco in Miami from October 22 to 24, opened Thursday with a business meeting focused on prospects for Moroccan-American economic relations. The gathering brought together around 50 business operators, company executives, investors, and representatives of American institutions.

Morocco’s Ambassador to the United States, Youssef Amrani, said the two countries should build on their longstanding relationship to expand economic cooperation and create shared prosperity.

“Our common ambition today is to give this historical and strategic depth an economic expression commensurate with its immense potential,” Amrani said.

He described Moroccan-American relations as an exceptional partnership shaped by 250 years of friendship, adding that the relationship was entering a new phase driven by shared strategic interests, growing economic complementarity, and political commitment to deeper bilateral cooperation.

Amrani also stressed the significance of 2026, which marks the 250th anniversary of American independence and Moroccan-American friendship, as well as 20 years since the implementation of the free trade agreement (FTA) between the two countries. The agreement is the only free trade agreement the United States has concluded with an African country.

The ambassador said Morocco’s economic and industrial transformation offers new opportunities for American companies, pointing to sectors including aerospace, critical minerals, agriculture, energy, and technology.

He also emphasized Morocco’s potential as a stable business partner and a competitive platform for companies seeking to diversify supply chains, expand industrial operations, and access critical minerals.

According to Amrani, existing cooperation in these sectors provides a foundation for advancing the bilateral partnership and expanding investment opportunities. He also highlighted the growing role of women entrepreneurs, executives, and investors in promoting innovation and strengthening economic ties between the two countries.

Morocco’s Consul General in Miami, Chafika El Habti, spotlighted Florida’s growing role in fostering economic and people-to-people ties between Morocco and the United States.

She pointed to the dynamism of the Moroccan community in Florida and the opportunities offered by stronger exchanges between businesses in both countries, particularly in investment, innovation, and trade.

El Habti also reaffirmed the consulate’s commitment to supporting business initiatives, facilitating connections between economic operators, and helping establish Miami as a platform for new partnerships between Morocco and the American market.

Morocco’s culture and contemporary industries

Alongside the business program, Morocco Days in Miami is bringing Moroccan craftsmanship, contemporary design, gastronomy, and cultural traditions to visitors at Ponce Circle Park in Coral Gables.

The festival, scheduled for October 23 and 24, offers free admission and features three main areas designed to showcase different aspects of Morocco’s creative and economic landscape.

Souk Origins focuses on traditional crafts, textiles, and hands-on workshops, while Made in Morocco presents contemporary fashion, design, gastronomy, and independent brands. The Industry & Future area highlights entrepreneurship, technology, and businesses contributing to Morocco’s modern economy.

By combining business discussions with cultural and creative showcases, the inaugural event aims to introduce American audiences to Morocco’s heritage while presenting opportunities for economic cooperation and investment.

The initiative comes as Morocco seeks to deepen its commercial relationship with the United States and build on existing political, institutional, and economic ties to develop new partnerships across strategic sectors.
