Mukesh Ambani: India Will Be Among World’s Greatest Ai Powers

Speaking at the #IndiaAIImpactSummit2026 in Delhi, Mukesh Ambani, Chairman & Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited, expressed confidence that India will emerge as one of the world’s greatest AI powers in the 21st century.
Ambani highlighted India’s strengths — demography, democracy, development, digital infrastructure, and massive data generation — as key pillars of its AI future. He noted that India is the world’s largest mobile data consumer with nearly 1 billion internet users and among the lowest data costs globally.
He pointed to landmark digital platforms including Aadhaar with 1.4 billion digital IDs, and Unified Payments Interface (UPI), which processes over 12 billion transactions monthly. He also emphasized India’s position among the top three global startup ecosystems, with over 100,000 startups and 100+ unicorns.
Ambani added that India’s secure and inclusive digital public infrastructure stack is now being adopted globally. He said Jio, with over 500 million subscribers, has played a leading role in India’s broadband, 4G, 5G, and home connectivity transformation — and will now play an even bigger role in India’s AI journey.
