New Business Timings Announced In Kp To Save Electricity

The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has announced new business hours across the province as part of measures aimed at conserving electricity and promoting efficient energy use.

Under the new directives, markets and commercial plazas in divisional headquarters will close at 9:00 PM, while businesses in other districts must shut down by 8:00 PM.

Authorities have also directed restaurants, cafés, and wedding halls to conclude operations by 10:00 PM. However, home delivery and takeaway services will be allowed to continue beyond closing hours.

The revised timings will apply to private offices, academies, banks, jewelry shops, and fitness centers.

Industrial, manufacturing, and export units have been exempted from the restrictions, although showrooms and retail outlets linked to industries must follow the new schedule.

Officials have also banned unnecessary lighting, including decorative and façade lights, to reduce power consumption.

Provincial authorities said the measures are designed to cut electricity usage in commercial areas and improve energy efficiency.

Administrative secretaries and commissioners have been instructed to ensure strict implementation, while deputy commissioners will monitor markets at the district level.

Similar Restrictions in Balochistan

Meanwhile, the government of Balochistan has also introduced new operating hours for businesses across the province.

According to the Home Department, markets and shopping centers in Quetta will close at 8:00 PM. Essential services such as medical stores, tandoors, and naan shops have been exempted from the restrictions.

Officials further directed that all events at wedding halls, banquet halls, and hotels must conclude by 10:00 PM, while restaurants and hotels are also required to shut operations by the same time.

Authorities said the new rules are part of administrative measures to regulate business hours and manage energy consumption in the province.
