Commanders

Eagles

  • Eagles HC Nick Sirianni on RB Dameon Pierce: “He’s an NFL starting running back. Maybe wouldn’t have said that when he was on our practice squad publicly, because of the fear of losing him. But he’s an NFL starting running back …Excited for his opportunity.” (Zach Berman)
  • Eagles GM Howie Roseman on the C Cam Jurgens trade: “We weren’t looking to move Cam. Obviously, the Ravens have been looking for a center… Kind of told them wasn’t anything we were looking to do. Over the last 24 hours, it got to the point where we felt like it could be a win-win for them. Obviously, getting a player who’s been a two-time Pro Bowl center and obviously for us, being able to get the picks we’re able to get, and use that money also to sign players. Had a chance to watch Drew here play center is doing a nice job. Have a young player there. “…I think for us, when you talk about the two and the five, moving from the seventh to the fifth. We’ve had success in the fifth round, plus the money, plus you Drew playing, we felt like we were getting four players for one, and just felt like for us, you know, with all these guys that we got coming up, a lot on the defensive side of the ball that we want to re-sign and want to extend, felt like that that was a good situation.” (Berman)
  • He continued on Jergens: “You can’t discount opportunities that you think give you a chance to compete at a high level for a long period of time.” (Berman)
  • Roseman on rookie OT Markel Ball: “I think Markel, obviously, was somebody we’re really excited to get here in the third round. I think for him having a full week of preparation will help him. He’s a 21-year-old. Obviously, his best football ahead of him. He’s got the right mentality. He’s got a lot of critical factors, and excited to see him out there.” (Jeff McLane)

Giants

Giants RB Cam Skattebo wasn’t fond of the team being underdogs at home against the Cardinals, especially after they wound up with the 36-24 victory on Sunday.

“It’s dumb. It’s dumb to be underdogs at home, especially when you’re a good football team,” Skattebo said, via Jordan Raanan of ESPN. “When people want to bet against you at your own place and you have a team coming from a six-hour flight on a time change, it’s a pretty brutal feeling as a team when you feel you’re put underneath them. We came out here and handled business.”

“We talked about it as a team. I think we were underdogs with them coming into our house,” Skattebo said. “I think that was kind of BS. This is our home. This is our house. These guys love each other. They know we have to protect our castle. They got it done. We got it done — 3-0 at home is pretty good.”
