Openstation Blog: One Screenshot, One Tiny Improvement
There are few things we love more than seeing someone actually use OpenStation.
A few days ago, Juan Lentino sent us a screenshot of his OpenStation desktop.
He was using it with Signal & Noise Tools, his self-hosted business platform for freelancers, and honestly… seeing someone build their own workspace with OpenStation made us ridiculously happy.
But then we noticed something.
Looking at the screenshot, we realised there was one small thing missing.
A grid.
Right now, you can move widgets around freely, but if you want to create a really clean layout, getting everything perfectly aligned takes a bit of work.
So we thought: why not make the desktop snap to a grid?
It is a tiny change.
But it is exactly the kind of tiny change that makes a desktop feel better to use.
You should be able to move things around, experiment with your workspace, and then quickly get everything lined up exactly how you want it.
So, Juan, thank you for the screenshot.
You didn’t just show us how you’re using OpenStation.
You accidentally gave us our next little tweak.
And that’s one of the things we love about building in the open: sometimes the best product ideas come from simply seeing someone else use what you’ve built.
Grid has been added in version 1.1.2
