Prime Minister Robert Abela attended the official opening ceremony of Takali Brewing Company, a new independent brewery at the Ta' Qali Crafts Village, resulting from a €1.5 million investment, the Office of the Prime Minister said in a statement.

The company, led by Matthew and Francesca Buttigieg, is investing in the local production of craft beer, with a focus on quality, innovation, and the development of products with a distinct Maltese identity.

As the project and product line continue to develop, the creation of further high-quality jobs is anticipated.

The investment was also supported through Malta Enterprise's Business Development Scheme, as part of the assistance provided to those choosing to invest in value-added economic activity.

In his remarks, the Prime Minister said that this project reflects the economic direction the government aims to further strengthen in the coming years.

"This is exactly the type of investment we want to continue seeing in our country. Quality investment built on creativity, skill, and innovation, resulting in a product with a distinct identity," Abela said.

Abela said that the government aims to continue supporting entrepreneurs who have an idea, believe in it, and are willing to invest to turn it into reality.

He also noted that the choice of the Ta' Qali Crafts Village as the home for this investment is significant, as the site is set to further develop into a hub for creativity, craftsmanship, and local products with a distinctive character.

Takali Brewing Company is developing a range of beers, including lagers, pale ales, IPAs, and sour beers.

Products developed so far include a prickly pear beer, a lager with lime and salt from Xwejni, and a strawberry ice cream-flavoured sour beer.

The company also aims to create a broader experience for visitors through its taproom and beer garden, while introducing sustainable practices such as the reuse of production by-products and investment in a photovoltaic system.

The Prime Minister was accompanied by the Minister for the Economy, Technology and Strategic Projects Silvio Schembri.
