Redefining The Modern Entrepreneur: Tangerine Storyfronts Takes Over Queen Street West

Canada’s entrepreneurial landscape is undergoing a profound cultural shift. Today's business owners are no longer defined solely by corporate boardrooms or traditional brick-and-mortar operations—they are digital creators, visual artists, and side hustlers carving out their own distinct paths. Yet, despite this evolution, legacy financial systems have often struggled to keep pace.

According to Tangerine’s recent Modern Entrepreneurship Report, conducted in collaboration with PwC Canada, 52% of Canadian business owners do not identify with the traditional definition of an "entrepreneur." To bridge this gap and provide modern creators with the visibility and tailored tools they deserve, Tangerine Bank is celebrating Small Business Week with the launch of Tangerine Business and an immersive community activation: Tangerine Storyfronts.

The Activation: Tangerine Storyfronts x SumArtist

From October 23 to 25, Tangerine is transforming a retail storefront at 1086½ Queen Street West into an interactive gallery and creative hub. The bank is opening the doors to renowned Toronto street artist Paul Glyn-Williams—widely known as SumArtist (@sumartist)—famous for his iconic murals honouring figures like Jose Bautista and Vince Carter, as well as his landmark piece at the Brampton Soccer Centre.

For the first time ever, fans can explore and purchase SumArtist’s canvas artwork designed for home décor. Visitors dropping by the Queen Street West pop-up will experience:

  • Live Mural Painting: Watch live street art creation unfold throughout the event.

  • Gallery & Retail Experience: Browse and purchase canvas artwork, custom t-shirts, and specialized framing options.

  • Exclusive Giveaways: Complimentary artist prints available for attendees.

  • Interactive Installations: Photo opportunities featuring a custom spray can wall, a graffiti mirror, and an artist-painted lounge area.

Banking Built for How Businesses Run Today

The Storyfronts pop-up marks the official debut of Tangerine Business, a digital-first banking platform engineered to match the flexibility, speed, and real-world demands of contemporary Canadian business owners.

Beyond providing core financial tools, Tangerine is actively building a peer-focused business community designed to help independent creators connect, share resources, and scale on their own terms. By combining accessible digital banking with hyper-local community activations, Tangerine is proving that supporting small business means championing the diverse voices driving Canada's new economy.
