Restaurant Owner Lashes Out At Trump After Deporting Illegals Turned Out To Be Bad For His Business

If your business cannot survive without paying Americans a fair wage, then that is nothing more than a personal problem.

Miami restaurant owner Wilkinson Sejour told CBS that his business has been suffering after several of his Haitian employees have been affected by Trump’s end of temporary protected status benefits for over 300,000 Haitians. He believes that because some of these people have called this country home for 10, 20, and sometimes even 30 years, that means they somehow should be afforded the right to be here. The problem with this is that is not how the law works.

Firstly, he claims one of the problems with this is that while the program had the word "temporary" in it, that is not how it worked out. Because many of them were here for years, and some even decades, they were under the impression this country would be their home forever. And while he is correct, the system needs to do better at deporting people under “temporary” programs, this also proves these people had that long to obtain lawful residency. They did not do that, and now they are gone. Again, this is nothing more than a personal problem.

Past governments have normalized the idea that temporary does not mean “temporary.” However, that is not okay and precisely why Trump has attempted to correct the system. Again, for the millionth time, this is nothing more than a personal problem, which is not the burden of the American people.

What is also comical is that he implies the majority of Haitians are a net benefit to the economy when more than half of these households are on at least one major welfare program. According to CIS, “Of households headed by Haitian immigrants, 52.7 percent use at least one major welfare program. For households headed by native-born Americans, it is 28.4 percent.” “Common sense” would tell you that for Haitians exclusively on TPS, that number may be higher. Draw your own conclusions.
